We Let The Stars Go

I'm using an old Pentium laptop and a 56k dial up connection so I'll be brief.

Headed north to the Highlands of Scotland to celebrate Hogmanay (New Year's Eve) with friends.

Having a great time but something happened last night which I wanted to share.

I popped outside onto the balcony around 11pm for a cigarette. It was a beautifully clear night with an almost full moon in the sky. From the balcony I had a spectacular moonlit view right down the Glen (valley for those unfamiliar with Scotland). For a city boy this was quite spectacular. But then I looked upwards and for the first time in years I saw stars. I don't mean I looked at the stars, I mean I actually saw some.

Now this probably means nothing to you but to me it made me realise how much I take things for granted.

Anyhoo...I'll provide some proper updates in the next couple of days. In the meantime I'd like to wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year and may 2007 be the year your dreams are fulfilled.

I know exactly what you mean about the stars. I only see them on camping trips when I'm far enough away from city lights.

Have a wonderful New Year Dave.

Lovely post Dave.

You're right - we should all just stop from time to time to take in what's around us.

Happy New Year to you and yours. I wish you only love luck and laughter

Tonight was a full moon as I walked home from the train. Best stars I ever saw was on Kangaroo Island on my first trip to South Australia. We lay on the beach for hours late at night and took in the big bang. Excellent.

I'm always amazed at how starry the sky is in the country. Hope you had a nice time.
