Has anyone else read the excellent Christopher Brookmyre novel A Big Boy Did It And Ran Away?
If you haven't you should.
Given the sketchy details provided regarding the latest "terrorist threat" in the UK the introduction to the book is almost prophetic.
Anyway my point is that the "terrorist plot" was revealed at a press conference featuring John Reid & Douglas Alexander both of whom hail from the West Of Scotland just like Brookmyre. Round these parts Brookmyre is classified as required reading.
In addition to this the government were enjoying another shitty week full of negative press stories regarding the "special relationship" we have with The USA. Junior ministers resigning in response to government complicity in assisting the arming of Israel in their ongoing dispute with The Lebanon/Hezbollah. Whilst all the while British soldiers continue to be killed and maimed patrolling Iraq and Afghanastan.
Lo and behold what arrives to move all of this off the front pages but a story which appears to have been lifted from a £7 paperback.
Coincidence?...you decide.
Footnote on this one. Lammy sent me this link, it seems that I am not the only one questioning things

I read the book a few years ago - it was my first introduction to Mr Brookmyre as an author. I have been a fan ever since.
In light of recent events - I may just dust off my copy and give it a revisit........... but I can see where you're going LOL.
