The Best Fun You Can Have With Your Kids

Good evening everyone. I've had a couple of drinks on the way home from the office so I am a little bit more sentimental than normal. With this at the back of my mind I thought that I hadn't done a list for a while so I decided that tonight would be the top 5 things you can do with your kids.
As I am sure I have no doubt mentioned previously I am the father to two pre-school girls. These little ladies take up more of my time and cause me more grief than their mother but I must confess that hanging out with them is pretty cool!.
Davenelli's Top 5 Kid Things
  1. Talk to them. It seems obvious but it is the best thing you can do with children. I don't mean that goo goo, gaa gaa shite that so many parents seem to indulge in. I mean really talk to them. Ask them their like & dislikes, their hopes & fears etc. If they ask a question (and they will) provide a proper answer. Never try and fob them off, you'll only make it worse for yourself in the long run.
  2. Take them to the play park. Kids love open spaces but still need the security you provide. Take them to your local park where you can sit on a bench, sip your coffee & read your book yet still keep an eye on them.
  3. Take them out to eat. No matter how young your kid they can have a great time and learn a lot from a simple social occassion.
  4. Make stuff. This can be a cake/picture/model. The choice should be theirs. Whatever you produce at the end of this session they will love beacuase you have invested your time & energy to create it.
  5. Read to them. Again this sounds so simple but you would be shocked at the number of parents that would rather sit their kid in front of the TV. A simple story book will take up maybe 10 minutes of your time but again to the children you will be a hero.

Anyway, it's late, I'm tired and I have to get up early to entertain my girls so I'll say goodnight.

I know what to do with 'em. Give 'em a marshmallow and tell 'em not to eat it.

Great post Dave. My little girl also likes to play dress-up. And turn on some music and dance silly with them.

By the way, I checked out Toyah. Hmmmm interesting.
